There is no province in Canada that I know of were so many workers travel and live away from home. Alberta has a special work force with Canadians and foreign workers migrating to have employment, and reasonable pay.
For this reason my opinion is that the WCB should change their policies to be compassionate to workers injured that do not want to stay in hotels. Workers should not feel forced to stay in the province when the need treatment and can not work. Did you know the WCB can not dictate where you live nor tell you that you can not return to your home. They can suggest you stay in Alberta and the WCB can arrange for medical assessments. They can not dictate where you live. Reality is that if you live out of Alberta you have the same right to return to your home and family as any other worker that lives in Alberta. We represent workers with Alberta claims regardless where you live. With technology today, injured workers do not have to do without representation and advocacy services. Gail Cumming

Transparency of WCB is a right to stakeholders. The only forum for WCB to be questioned by stakeholders is the annual general meeting. Why was there no workers, representatives, unions etc. other than a hand full?
